The Endless Number of Wall Decor Choices

We are the choices we make. In “The Road Not Taken,” the American poet Robert Frost discusses the significance of making one choice over another. Throughout our lives, we make a plethora of decisions that affect our lives in big and small ways. We choose what school to attend or what career to pursue. We choose which car or house to buy. We even choose whether to go with the almond toffee crunch or jamocha almond fudge coffee.

Likewise, when planning the interior design of our house, we have a cornucopia of choices to make. These range from the floor to the walls and from the sofa to the coffee table. However, when designing any room of our home, we should never neglect the walls and wall candle sconces. Yes, the process begins with paint and perhaps wallpaper. However, we have a plethora of options to make after that. Here are some of the main choices of components that you can make, when deciding which decor is ideal for your home:

Material: The material of a wall decor is the essence of the piece.

A. Acrylic: This includes a variety of manmade oils, plastics, and resins, which manufacturers use to make a variety of products, including wall decor. These products can be of a variety of consistencies, varying from soft and sturdy, to hard and clear. This is based on the beginning substances used to form a chemical reaction, and the forming of the acrylic itself.

B. Canvas: Canvas is a sturdy cloth that artists use to create their masterpieces. Help was originally used to produce canvas. In fact, the name ‘canvas’ originates from the scientific term for hemp, cannabis sativa. However, today’s canvas typically consists of linen that is snugly intertwined; or flax, a type of blue flower. Canvas is not a particular type of cloth, but rather, is a variety of cloth. In the world of artistry, canvas does not strictly refer to the cloth onto which artists create their works. It also refers to the fabric that is attached to a stretching frame. Artists typically use canvas to create oil paintings, such as canvas wall art

C. Iron: Iron is a chemical element that is classified as a metal and one of the “transition elements.” This metal is the second most plentiful metal on Earth, and the fourth most profuse metal in the Earth’s crust. Iron is also the second most frequently used metal and the least expensive one as well. In the manufacturing of products such as an array of wall art, iron can exist in a variety of forms (i.e. thin and thick, and flexible and inflexible) and alloys.

Manufacturers frequently also use iron in an array of steels, and in wrought and cast iron. Wrought iron is a type of iron that can be easily shaped and bound. It is a mechanical blend of purified metallic iron with 1-3% of slag (residue after melting ore made of metal) containing the compound silica. Meanwhile, cast iron is a hard, crisp, rigid mixture of iron and carbon that is molded into a particular shape.

Art Styles
When we think of wall decor, we typically think of paintings. However, we should keep in mind that wall decor does not exclusively include paintings. Furthermore, it can conclude a wide variety of styles, including:

A. Contemporary Wall Art:
When you think of contemporary wall art, think unique wall art that is modern. Contemporary art includes art from the late 1900s and early 2000s. Contemporary art has both extended from, and discarded, modern art. Beginning in the 1960s, many artistic styles attempted to change or replace modernism in various artistic media, such as paintings and sculptures. Some of these most influential types of contemporary art included:

    color-field painting: cool abstract objects
Dada: focuses on chaos and absurdities
    happening: impulsiveness  and multimedia tools
    minimalism: tiny variation if methods
    op art: includes optical flickering
    photorealism: tough hyper-reality
pop art: everyday objects in new contexts

This type of eye-catching wall art, such as wrought iron wall art is bold in color and form. Sturdy, lightweight blends of metals are used to create attractive contemporary wall art. These wall-art pieces have undergone hand-brushing, to provide a smooth and refined appearance. Available in a variety of wall art types, shapes, and sizes, contemporary wall art is able to enhance the decor of any room in your house.

B. Abstract Wall Art:
Abstract Art includes a variety of artistic modes, such as painting and sculpturing. The key to this type of art is that it does not represent everyday objects that we can distinguish.  We can tract the roots of abstract art to Europe, during the 1800s. During that time, many artists began to reject the idea that art must duplicate nature. Instead, they focused on one’s thoughts and unconsciousness. Abstract art further developed during the early 1900s, with a variety of art movements, such as Cubism, Expressionism, Fauvism, and Futurism.

Through the years, abstract art has evolved. Vasily Kandinsky is typically credited as the first modern artist to create strictly abstract paintings. Beginning in the 1940, abstract art became the most frequently used feature of Western art. Then following World War II, America’s Abstract Expressionism greatly affected paintings and sculptures in both the U.S. and Europe. By the start of the 21sth century, abstract art was oftentimes displayed with both conceptual and figurative artwork.

Objects
Aside from more traditional paintings, you can also use a variety of objects, such as hanging wall vases, to add to your arsenal of wall decor. The creativity begins in selecting the objects themselves. However, by using a variety of different techniques, you can enhance the effect that the objects have on the overall aura of a room. Basically, the options are unlimited. The wall art objects, can include:

    Architectural Pieces
    Candles Sconces
    Shadow Boxes
    Wall Clocks
    Wall Crosses
